Andrea Bernardi is an Agence France Presse (AFP) video journalist based in Jerusalem.
Since 2008 he has been covering Foreign affairs with a focus on crisis areas. He has covered the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, the protests of the “Red Shirts” in Bangkok, the Egyptian revolution up to the fall of President Hosni Mubarak and the war in Libya. He has lived for several years in Jerusalem, Kabul (Afghanistan) and Istanbul (Turkey).
Between August 2012 and April 2013 he was based in Antakya, Turkey, in order to cover the Syrian civil war. In Syria he worked in Aleppo and Province and the Provinces of Idlib, Hama and Latakia. In the summer 2014 he extensively covered the fighting between the Iraqi government and ISIS traveling between Baghdad and Najaf (Iraq), in the Iraqi Kurdistan following the Peshmerga forces and in the North-East Syria with the Kurdish militia of YPG. In July 2014 he covered for AFPTV from Gaza the "Operation Protective Edge" launched by Israel against Hamas.
He has collaborated with Italian and foreign media including Al Jazeera International, Channel 4, RCN Noticias, VICE NEWS, RaiNews 24, Mediaset, Corriere della Sera TV, Il Fatto Quotidiano on-line, Lettera 43, Unimondo and Il Secolo XIX among others.
His videos have appeared on major international television channels.
